Do you live near Los Angeles and enjoy pooping fire?
You’re in luck.
Next week a small contingent of DreamHost employees will be at Orochon Ramen to test your mettle!
Orochon is known for serving up big bowls of ramen that come in seven levels of spicy. In addition to those seven, there are two extreme levels of spiciness – known as Special #1, and Special #2 – the hottest.
You may have even seen the Special #2 featured on Food Network’s Man vs. Food.

If you can finish a bowl of Special #2 in less than 30 minutes they’ll put your picture on the wall.
And we’ll give you a year of free hosting!
Orochon Ramen doesn’t have a website (Really! In 2010!) but they do have a page on Yelp. Check out the menu and photos of what you’re in for.
We’ll see you there next Wednesday, June 2nd, at 7PM! If you plan to attend please RSVP on Facebook so that we’ll have a general idea of how many people to expect.
If you do manage to complete the challenge just look for anyone wearing a DreamHost shirt and let them know your account information – a year of free hosting will magically appear on your account shortly thereafter.

And please come prepared.

I am so glad I am *not* a fan of spicy –I’d bring that ramen right back up!
Good luck to any who try this one!

Dammit! I wish I could go. This sounds like it would be right up my alley.

I love spicy food but I’ll probably not be able to make it. I’ll have to get there from Santa Monica.

Even if you don’t like spicy food, come on down and cheer everyone else on!
It should be a hoot!

Bring it to Wisconsin and we’ll duke it out over some Atomic Chicken Wings.

Aww.. I don’t live in LA but couldn’t they move it to this weekend? XD
I love spicy food. I haven’t tasted #2 before.. but I think it’d be interesting to try it at least once XP

I was there 3 weeks ago for my first time and my #1 (not the special) was just incredible. I’ve been telling everyone about it ever since and am going back this weekend to get some more.
For what it’s worth, I _highly_ recommend you sit outside if you can. While we were there, some other dude sitting inside decided to try the challenge and he ralphed all over the place after he finished his bowl because he couldn’t physically hold it down. It was nasty and the place completely cleared out. The waitress we talked to afterwards said that that has happens at least a few times every week ever since the MvF special.
Anyway, sit outside and you won’t have to be in such close proximity to that if it does happen. Hopefully I’ll be able to see you guys there.

I was in until I got to the “anal leakage” part. Wish I lived on the west coast sometimes.

@Andrew: yea, definitely doing it outside for that very reason. If I hurl, I at least want to hurl somewhere easy to clean up :P

Give them a year of free hosting for making the food for the comp.

Damn. I would come if I would have the money to buy a ticket. (would cost more than the hosting itself)

Not all of their food is spicy! They have some delicious meals and pro-vegetarian food if you’re into that sort of thing.

So… anyone make it?
June 5th, 2010 at 12:20 am
I did not. I got about half way through and my stomach started screaming at me. My mouth was fine, but my stomach was not.
Sandon didn’t get very far, the spiciness *really* got to him.
At least my sinuses are clear for about 6 months now ;)

Drat, why was that instant transport portal out of order!
I tapped NL -> USA, even added some credits for Extra-WarpSpeed
and nothing happened. Where’s technology when you really need it!
Cheers!
