If I already have a Dreamhost account is there any point to me getting a Dreamhost Apps account?
And where it says upgrade to a full account now and we will pay for your domain registration for as long as you stay with us is that essentially giving out a free domain name for life?

A Full DreamHost Account offers quite a bit more than a DreamHost Apps account. All DreamHost customers can use the DreamHost Apps interface to manage their easy one-click installs with their regular login as well.
