Here at DreamHost, we’re as serious about web hosting as we are about ping pong. And if we need more room for servers — or a quick doubles game — we’re totally in favor of expansion.
So when the situation calls for it, we move our table into the elevator lobby on our floor…
It doesn’t have a view like our regular ping pong room does, but we crash into the walls way less this way. And as people who host here can attest, crashing less is always a good thing.
Update: Building management apparently read this entry and just let us know that we can’t play ping pong in the lobby anymore. *sigh* I’d say that was the end of an era — but it only lasted a few weeks at best.

i hope you check your Support Tickets first before playing Pong. it’s more than 5 hours since I sent a Support Ticket and I haven’t received a reply from you yet. Hello! Anybody there?!

I’m a bit disappointed. It took nearly a week for someone to submit a “Why aren’t you doing XYZ instead of ABC?!” comment to the weblog.
You guys are getting slow. :)
Seriously, though. To those who think that TS people aren’t trying to get through to each and every one of you in a timely manner, you’re mistaken. Our employees work very hard, but there are all sorts of reasons why you may have to wait 4-5 or more hours for a response (the one tech who has an answer to your particular problem isn’t in yet, the problem is still being looked at, etc).
To those who think that TS should be working non-stop 24/7 without breaks in order to ensure that the queue is empty at all times, contact the California Labor Board and make your case.

Actually, there was some sort of issue and it was impossible to post a comment. I submitted a ticket and Jason fixed it so we could comment… otherwise, I’d bet you’d have been pleased!
Anyway, what I had wanted to post several days ago was that I looked at some of Jason’s other Vimeo videos and thought his lip dub to Army was Numa Numa level stuff!

Also, that sad trombone link was brilliant and beautiful… anyone who’s just checkin the comments and not noticing the post update should go back up and enjoy! I am very impressed that someone, anyone on this vast (yet tiny) Earth, somewhere within the seas of people, had the vision to create THAT website! They should DEFINITELY receive some sort of award.
