I am afraid that Melanie got a real significant point there. I have actually wondered several times about the location of the datacenters and a real smart move would be moving out of that area.

I made a joke about you guys moving to The Netherlands at some other blogpost, but I am really serious. One time or another the quakes will get you! Then you are in much more deep shit then with the "fat fingers" cock up.

I've been two times in an earthquake myself and although the sounds from the earth in the Himalayeas are the most beautiful I ever heard, I do not want to be in it anymore, neither do my websites.

Cheers, HansNL

Thx JeremyK but exactly how does that happen? Steps? I have to plan ahead for my clients. If DH has that democratic management blogged about, then here's my petition to democracy to LET US KNOW what your disaster plan is. That is, after step 1) get DH staff to safety...

Thank's Jeremy, so what would we do, contact ICANN and they could get the backups and see that despite the private reg I am the owner and can then move my registrations to wherever I choose?

@dwr: ICANN actually requires registrars to have offsite backups for reg data, for obvious reasons.

I also want to know what the disaster recovery plans are. Have you ever considered opening a data center in Atlanta, gnax.net possibly? Let all the californian's have there servers in CA and all us east coasters have them in Atlanta.
