Our email and website went down on Friday. AmEx is all fired up about fraudulent charges. Most of our clients communicate with us solely by email. So, we’ll just call Dreamhost and get it resolved. So, the voicemail box is full, can’t get through by email and sending a fax got no response. It’s nice to know that you can still joke around on your blog while people are losing money and tearing their hair out.

People make mistakes, this type of problem could happen to any company. Actually I think that the whole incident shows how transparent DreamHost is. They made a mistake and fixed it as soon as possible, imho going above and beyond what they needed to do. With other companies you would have an uphill struggle trying to get your bank charges back!

I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend DreamHost to anyone. :)

I actually only can fault them on one thing, the fact that new customers (with a voucher code) can get 3 IPs for life for FREE, but long term customers have to pay $47 for per IP address per year!!! Now that is annoying! :(

What about for those of us who already left due to your mistake? ARe you going to refund us for the last month? My php admin and ftp were down for over a month before you did anything about it. And even then you didn’t fix it. SO I moved on.

I believe the WORST Dreamhost disaster to ever happen to ME was when you DIDN’T include ME in your accidental repayment issue. I’m in debt, Josh. Throw some of that $170k my way next time. I promise not to complain about it. :P

Welcome to the internet, everyone. It’s as reliable as a monkey shoveling snow. As one who has had her domain hosted with 4 other services, I still maintain that DH is the best. Keep the communication up, and I’ll stick around.

It’s funny….In the next week I’ll finally be able to cancel my account with DH, a direct result of the 2006 power outage. Yes, it’s taken a few years but moving about 300 domains has been a slow tedious process. But it’s been more than a year since I’ve used DH for anything but DNS.
