I Just Noticed Something…

Man-Spider 3!

vs.

Station-Play 3!

Either Sony (who made both) is trying to siphon some of Peter Parker’s bad-assed-ness over to the PS3, or somebody paid too much for that font and is trying to get their money’s worth!

    Nice catch! They’re definitely identical…

  2. Thierry BEZIER Says:

  3. Anonymous Says:

    You only just noticed that?

  4. Sam M Says:

I think the Y is a dead giveaway. I possibly the one on spidey is just a little wider.

  5. tom Says:

You aren’t the only one to notice that. I noticed a while ago and yeah, the Y is a little different. I just recon they are cross promoting them.

Or maybe it will become the official sony font to be used on everything. Either way I’m still boycotting them.

  6. Garrett Albright Says:

Yeah, you’re a little late to the game; people noticed this immediately after the first PS3 logos appeared on the internet, over a year ago.

  7. Pete Says:

What a coincidence! I won’t be buying either one!

  8. at Max Edmands Says:

[...] uses the same font for Spiderman and [...]

  9. ttancm Says:

The Y kinda looks like an upside version of the finger their customer service people are so adept at using.

  10. Pirahna Says:

if it looks nice on both of them … why not ? :D

  11. Throlkim Says:

Aye, it’s a bit old, but again shows that Sony has some of the worst and laziest designers around (next to Porsche).

  12. jamie martin Says:

the font is very similar to one (or is) called ‘1979′ btw and can be downloaded from the fantastic dafont site
    http://www.dafont.com/search.php?q=1979&nb_ppp_old=10&page=1&text=Jamieman+3&nb_ppp=10&psize=m&classt=alpha

  13. Daniel Says:

When I first saw the “trailer” (in movie theatres, nonetheless!) for the PS3 (with the people standing on their roofs), I thought for sure it was for Spidey 3, based on the font.

    DreamHost

It looks like SlideShowPro.net and WhatDoIKnow.org have been hacked.

I’m pretty sure these are DreamHost hosted web sites.

You might want to give Todd Dominey a hand in fixing this problem.

  15. uploadcrap.com Says:

lol, I noticed that like 20 years ago, :)

  16. Min Thu Says:

Anyway, that’s really funny no matter whenever you’ve noticed it! :)

  17. User24 Says:

I believe it is subliminal marketing.

  18. EMOruffino Says:

Umm.. i knew about that since i first saw the logo… took ya awhile!

  19. Noah Brier Says:

    SYNERGY!! :)

    Good catch.

  20. Ryan Says:

Just goes to show how kinda un-original they are getting – PlayStation 3 – and they don’t even come up with a unique logo for it!

At least the Wii has tried to do something different instead of just upping the graphics and the price and leaving us with the same sort of games.

  21. Heath Says:

I noticed that back in November when my friend bought one. I was like, huh, the SPiderman font.

  22. Lee Says:

    Wow, not noticed that before!
I’d say they’re getting their money’s worth out of the font, or they have a very uncreative design department ;)

The *panel* is crazy slow right now.

  25. Jason Says:

I know this isn’t the place to report issues with our websites or with the panel, but mysql isn’t working, and neither is the panel, so i have no way of reporting the outage(s).

  26. Jake Says:

    THE PANEL IS DOWN !!!

I’m trying to setup a client who just purchased an account this morning.

Man, this makes me look bad.
