But this is not the first time that it has either been hinted or explicitly said that Google will or would buy out Dreamhost. I don't know if they're serious or just joking around. Problem is that Google would not have an issue competing, let alone that Google would most likely end up a monopoly in the hosting business (think about that, they already dominate a large section of most everything else), so buying out Dreamhost would add more debt to their bills.
