[...] Lots of customers are pissed off, as they probably should be. Those links are to customers comments on the most recent post at the DreamHost Blog. I’m lucky enough that the only sites I have there are personal and don’t really matter. I feel for the people trying to run a business with Dreamhost.
I just switched over to Webair and I am just so glad to be able to pick up the phone and have LIVE customer service again. None of this sending a email and waiting for a reply shit! I run a paysite and having site outages like I have been (with Dreamhost) is just not acceptable. Yeah, Dreamhost had some great deals on webhosting packages but I've learned my lesson. Unless they have LIVE customer service--never again! You get what you pay for!

For folks looking for another hosting company... The other company that I resell for is Hostgator (http://hostgator.com). I've been with them for years and have had almost no downtime for sites or email. I don't even think they oversell their space. I have moved all of my paying clients to Hostgator and have been headache free ever since! The prices can not compare to DH, but I have learned the hard way that you get what you pay for.

Things haven't been too good lately but the past year and a half of good smooth sailing deserves some patience, plus august is slow time for me. That said if in 2 weeks things don't get back to normal I'll have to move my domains (Not looking forward to that)

I have taken down all reflinks and promo codes since reccomending dh at this juncture is not really kosher...

Thanks for the info; canceled GoDaddy. Any suggestions of a replacement from someone not glued to DH's behind, like Mike? (Or do you work for them...?)

"A person that can’t complain without profanity or other little tantrums, is too stupid..."

Give your little "retards" comment, Mike, I must agree.

I've had Dreamhost for over 2 years and I have to say that this month has been very frustrating. I'm using it mostly as a personal image host and to show my 'Reel' to prospective clients/employers.

Every other time I check, it's down. I love Dreamhost, but you guys are really freaking me out.

I have dreamhost's status page as an rss feed in my safari bookmarks and I see every day some new problem appearing. Then I check my website and it is there.
Two months ago I left another hosting because my website was suspended of some overuse garbage...
When I joined DH I set up a siteuptime service and since then my uptime is %99.584. I can live with that. To be honest, I think there are not that many customers having problems if the people complaining here are about 20-30. 30 mad customers is not that bad IMHO. I'm sure there are others that just do not complain, but you people are making look like everyone's site is down, and everyone has problems. It is impossible for everything to be allright 24/7. It just cannot happen. I've been sysadmin for some time now and let me tell you, machines are mean and they will do their best to break in the worst time.

This kinds of problems will happen everywhere, it is important how long it takes the admins to recover from a situation like this. And from what I see, DH are doing well.

In the end it is impossible to have all customers happy...

Good luck to you guys. I'm going to write me a backups script to save my data every once in a while... :)

Is anyone else having trouble adding stuff in the panel? I tried adding some domains, and a couple email addresses and it's all just been pending for over a day.

This is my first three days with dreamhost, and it seems nothing works right. I really want it to work though, because dreamhost seems more personal than all the other companies, and the features they offer are great. And so many people say good things about them, but this really is not the best start.
