You say it’s your birthday?

Happy 8th Birthday to DreamHost!

It’s our birthday too!

Google turns 7 today, we turn 8!

Too bad we didn’t think of making yet another search engine back in 1997. Oh well, we’re not complaining toooo loudly.

To celebrate we’ve made a bunch of changes:

* Unlimited domains and sub-domains on all hosting plans!
* Domain registrations are now $9.95/year (33% off!)
* If you have multiple plans with us the disk/bandwidth is now shared among all domains (no more breaking it down by plan)!
* The panel’s been re-organized a fair bit, integrating a lot of disjointed tabs into what we hope is a much easier to use format!
* For the first 888 new signups, you can get 80% off the first year of any 1-2 year plan by using the promo code “888″ when signing up!

Back to pin-the-tail-on-the-donkey!

Happy Birthday Dreamhost! I have been with you guys for a little over a year and I couldn’t be happier. When I was shopping, I was looking for a good deal. Never did I ever think I’d end up with over 5 gigs of storage for under $10/month. Never did I think I’d be able to host unlimited domains. I just wanted to thank you guys for keeping the bar so high. I rely on my site, and I think it’s in the best of hands. Thanks and Congradulations!

  6. Will Says:

Josh, really like the new panel especially the domains area. What’s really cool is when you add a domain.

    CPANEL = OWNED!

Quick question about the domains, is the price just for the birthday or is it here to stay?

  7. Spiffness Says:

Happy birthday!… that promo code rules… bad time to be broke.

“If you have multiple plans with us the disk/bandwidth is now shared among all domains (no more breaking it down by plan)!”

Does that mean I can sign up for two Crazy Domain Insane plans, get 240 GB/mo for the price of a Sweet Dreams plan, and not have to worry about anything?

  18. brilliantdays.com Says:

Set up a great site for almost nothing

Right now (as of end of September 2005), Yahoo Domains sell domain names for $2.99 a year if you buy five years. That’s $14.95 for a domain for 5 years. Wow. Next, head over to Dreamhost, and subscribe to one…

    Happy Birthday! :)

I really appreciate the change in the “Manage domains” page, it makes it infinitely easier to use! Also, “Unlimited domains and sub-domains on all hosting plans” and “Domain registrations are now $9.95″? And I thought the Dreamhost plans couldn’t get any better…

    Happy birthday!
Thanks so much for the upgrade, I felt a bit devious making subdomains and then mirroring them on real domains I owned with my CDI plan — it seemed like someone had overlooked something.

Dreamhost had installed my account, sent me my username and passwords, and I was now busy installing WordPress – this after merely 45 minutes! And guess what? Dreamhost has just turned 8 and this they celebrate with 80% off on new signups! It didn’t just went very smooth, I payed almost nothing for it as well. Happy birthday, by the way Dreamhost! Unlimited Domain and Subdomain for Dream Host’s Customer

  36. Vida Vacia 4.1 » Dominios ilimitados!!! Says:

[...] Dreamhost is running an 8th anniversary special now. The first 888 new sign-ups for prepaid one or two-year plans can get 80% off their first year of hosting — and the plan is already incredibly cheap. My plan works out to $4.77 per month for the next two years. That’s $7.23 per month cheaper than my previous TextDrive plan, and I get much more bang for the buck. Dreamhost plans come with some amazing goodies, including one-click WordPress install, unlimited domains, one free domain registration, ample server space and bandwidth and a whole bunch of other crazy stuff. Just don’t forget to enter code 888 when you sign up or you’re screwed! [...]

[...] Server & Domain I’m currently hosted under Godaddy.com. Their domains are dirt cheap and the hosting is still so-so and it’s too soon to tell if it’s good but I’ve read on couple of forums of user with horror-story when signing up with GoDaddy.com. Oh boy, gulp. Touch wood eh … but so far, everything has been fine for me. I’m on shared hosting, and I hope GoDaddy won’t add to many other sites on the shared server. I did however nearly abandon my contract with GoDaddy for Dreamhost.com. I recommend this hosting site if you don’t wish to gamble on GoDaddy. They promise to add bandwidth & webspace every freaking week to your hosting account. How cool is that. Well too bad, as I signed up with GoDaddy way before the offer [...]
