Something Not About Power!

Thought we’d break up the monotony and throw up a little post about something positive!
We’ve just added a “One-Click Install” of the new Gallery 2.0, the MOST popular open-source website photo gallery software THERE IS!
Give it a try at our “Goodies > One-Click Installs” area right now!
(Keep in mind it’s a big install so it’ll probably take close to the full 10 minutes before you receive your confirmation email!)

If I’ve already installed Gallery 1 manually, to upgrade I’d have to manually upgrade as well, won’t I?
Hm. I’ll have to look into if I can do the one click of Gallery 2 and figure out how to import from my manual Gallery 1 install.
Anyone do that before?

aw, I already installed it manually. Even that was pretty simple, keep up the good work!

Man, you guys Effin rock!!!!
Best host ever! Minus, that lil’ foobar but hey it happens and I’m sure I could speak for most when I say that your stellar support and forward thinking makes you guys the best around.
1-click installs are a godsend but you guys should REALLY work on getting AWSTATS to be 1-click. Man that would be awesome.

Nice!
Nothing better than going to the gallery site to grab the binary and seeing this news on their front page (from a forum post).

Crap, and I just installed it not three days ago! :/ But I still have some bugs.

Jason: Gallery 2 has a Gallery 1 -> Gallery 2 migration module. You point that to the albums directory of your Gallery 1 install, and it migrates it for you.

Dreamhost One Click Install Gallery2
I have been looking for a better way to integrate pictures into this blog. I ended up choosing Gallery 2.0. Now the Dreamhost folk have made it easier by creating a one click install cript.

One-click Gallery 2 install on Dreamhost? Unpossible!
The guys over at Dreamhost are now offering a one-click install of Gallery 2. Way to go!
I don’t know if they offer a one-click install of Wordpress, but I’m betting they do. The next logical step would be to install WPG2 as well, if the customer h…

Might want to remove it from suggestions and add it to the implemented suggestion.
One more thing, need to give a fellow DreamHoster a plug. :-)
If you are one of those who thinks gallery is too darn heavy > http://passiongallery.info/

I just used the one-click-install for gallery2 and it worked like a dream :) – importing pics from my previously installed gallery1 worked without any problems.
Thanks guys!

Dear Happy DreamHost Installer Robot:
Bad Robot, Bad, Bad, Go Lay Down!
The advice from the Installer Robot is just wrong on step four.
Quote from the email with the subject:
>>[mydreamhostaccount ###6568] Success installing Gallery on your site!
September 17th, 2005 at 3:48 pm
Step 4: CHANGE the Directory path to be:
/home/myloginNAMEg2data
Make a valid directory path adding the “/”
where it needs to be /home/myloginNAME/g2data

What makes life even better, is that you can embed gallery2 into WordPress. It’s almost the bees knees. You can preview what it would looks like at “cucucachoo.net/wp/wp-gallery2.php”.
Of course this is still in progress so it could look like poop. But it will give a good example of Gallery2 embedded into WordPress.
Thanks
Crazy Dreamhost Team! you guys ROCK!

For all of you using Wordpress and Gallery2, then head over to the http://wpg2.ozgreg.com site and pick up the WPG2 plugin that bridges the gap between the two products so you can blog and have photos all at the same time.
Check out http://wpg2.ozgreg.com for more info..

It installed fine but doesn’t create thumbnails. I’ve been using Gallery 1 for years and have never had problems before. Any ideas?

Thanks for the cool one click installation. However, I’ve a mighty suggestion if it’s possilbe for Dreamhost to offer Awstats instead of Analog, coz I’m really tired of Analog. Cheers!

The choice of the language does not function at the time of the installation, Gallery remains in English. Same thing once installed

[...] Okay, it’s not Gallery 2 but it is a pretty highly voted-on suggestion. [...]

i googled for something completely different, but found your page… and have to say thanks. i like your site.

Dreamhost will have to enable all locales for Gallery to be truly multilingual. Right now it only works in English, which is a shame.
For more information on the matter read the Gallery2 FAQ
I submitted a support ticket for it, let’s hope it gets taken care of.
December 18th, 2005 at 10:48 am
Will it be in others languages?

[...] One-Click Installs The number of One-Click Installs has also increased significantly over the year. Late last year DreamHost introduced WordPress as a One-Click Install. This year they’ve added phpBB 2, OSCommerce, MediaWiki Wiki, Joomla (Mambo) CMS, Gallery 2.0, WebCalendar and WordPress 2.0. [...]
