Topnorati!
September 13, 2005 on 3:06 pm | In Foobars, Funnyish, Updates by Josh Jones |Still working on the packet loss..
In the meantime, we thought this was amazing yesterday:

Until we checked this morning and saw:

(keep in mind the “Impeach Bush” search is actually sort of fake.. it’s just a “spam” search by crazy bloggers to make it show up there.. which really put us as the #1 search for the hour!)
Later this afternoon, Skype passed us though:

Anyway, I guess that’s cool?

That is cool.
I’ve been a customer since 1998. Now that you’ve moved your office to Brea, I work a couple of blocks from you.
I remember watching you grow from the old system where virtually all services were run on the same machine and there weren’t any “goodies” and seeing some of your posts to Linux and Mailman discussion lists as you developed the new system.
I’ve enjoyed watching you grow. You guys are doing a great job. Now stop reading comments to your blog and get back to work.

Yes that’s cool, good thing they don’t get referral credits or you’d probably be giving them a shed load of money in the coming months (after 97 days?).

Yep. I started using them in 1997. Let’s see, the web panel had about a dozen links, not including the big banners to vote for them as a top web host. I think it was kinda greenish then, at least across the top. I think I was hosted on jezebel.
If only the referral system worked the same then as it does now. I remember when there was just a $10 credit.

Hmm down to #8 :(

I’ve been using them for about a year now and this is the first problem I’ve seen. I have some horror stories from my previous web host, which was always losing data and they’ve lost my account setup a few times.

I’ve worked with dozens of different ISPs and when you come down to it–and considering there was a blackout–Dreamhost is doing a very good job.
They are honest, competent and very transparent about what’s happening.
Only one thing to add. You DH folks should get jumpsuits to go with the helmets!

I hope you don’t get too caught up in tracking the top ten list at Technorati. I find it interesting to see what’s on there but that’s pretty much it. It is like some website owners obsess over pagerank.

Now if only Technorati could return results…

I like how it changes from 17 million to 17.1 million between morning and afternoon.

It’s funny because I copied-and-pasted the status update and the link in my own blog on Monday. I had so many people thank me because they were freaked out about what happened and where theier website had gone. So I don’t doubt that it was a major source of searching that day.

Hmm. Methinks people were searching for you so they could hunt you down and kill you, what with all the sql mishaps & probs since the outage on Monday.
Mine have not worked since.
