Sam... not to be a Troll, but it's not like your site is incredibly active. I'm sure with your last update posted on your site being 30 days ago, all the visitors to your site are extremely disappointed. Fix those broken images while you are at it too...

Guys, seriously, they are working the best they can with all the problems that are coming up. If you think you guys can solve the problems, why dont you do it then? It could be worse, we could have NOTHING at all.

Also, keep in mind that the power didnt just affect Dreamhost, it affected EVERYONE in that town so there are other residual effects that are outside of Dreamhosts control. I am sure the providers who provide bandwidth, etc are experiencing some simular issues too.

Lets just be patient and I am sure this will be resolved shortly.

While I know that everyone at DH means well and intentions are all good, I have to agree with Brian.

This isn't a rant. It's a plea. The sites I host are a mix of personal and small business and this has not. been. good.

Fix the immediate crisis and take a few minutes for a deep breath. But I have to say that if I don't see some real changes in DH's support proceedures by the end of the year I may have no choice but to cash out my referrals and go elsewhere. I have people to answer to.

I don't fault DH for going offline for a few hours. I know that situation was out of their control. My concern is in how difficult and slow it is to get support...on a good day. Impossible when something major goes wrong.

While I agree that Dreamhost has great people, and great support, this two day outage (and it is an outage for us - our website is pretty much non-functional unless your method of performance is measured with a sundial) is unacceptable for business hosting. If I simply had a personal site ... no biggie, but this is coming out of my wallet.

We have lost money because of this, looking at the number of orders we normally process vs. the amount in the last two days. Online shoppers go elsewhere when your site doesn't load.

I echo those sentiments. Been with Dreamhost since 2000, by far the most amazing hosting company I've ever had. I've also seen their incredibly massive & amazingly organized cages (free the monkey) out in LA (used to work for a company with a cage across the floor), and met a few of the guys. Top notch people, management & service...this one was out of their control. But knowing how they operate I'm sure they'll implement further redundancy measures to make sure it doesn't affect them again.

Thanks DH !!
