I know it doesn't support bitstream file transfers. I've been working closely with a friend and a developer for trillian on this issue. Using trillian 3.1's jabber plugin and trying to send files from one dreamhost jabber account to ANOTHER dreamhost jabber account yields a crash. According to the XML debug code it's because the bytestream proxy is non existant in dreamhost's jabber setup (it tries to communicate through my PC's local IP, which is a class C address. Anyway, just thought I'd harp on it. If I log into my jabber.org account I can send files properly because the bytestream proxy gives the right information.
